About the CSV file template

The CSV file template consists of 6 columns. While organizations are added based on DUNS number alone, the other columns are mandatory for successful upload. You will need to populate the required information in each column.

How DUNS numbers are added

When organizations are added using a CSV file, the DUNS number in the file is checked against the CDP database. If there is no match, the system searches for the DUNS number in the Dun & Bradstreet database. If D&B returns a match, a new  account is created in the CDP database using D&B’s details – and this is where your request will be located.

1.Organization already exists in the CDP database.

"XYZ" already exists in the CDP database. To prevent a duplicate record being created, remove this row from this CSV file and upload the file again. Then click "Add an organization" to find and add it separately.

Reason: An organization with the exact name exists in the CDP database without a DUNS number.

Resolution: Use the “Add an organization” feature to find and add the organization in the CDP database. This will assign the DUNS number automatically.

2. Organization already exists in the CDP database with a DUNS number.

Example: Organization “XYZ” already exists in the CDP database with DUNS “123456789”. Please update the DUNS value to “123456777” in the CSVfile.

The DUNS number you entered for "XYZ" doesn't match the DUNS number we have in our database, 123456789. To prevent a duplicate record being created, correct the DUNS number in this CSV file and upload the file again. Tip: click "Add an organization" to check you've selected the correct organization.

Reason: An organization with the exact name exists in the CDP database with a different DUNS number.

Resolution: Update the correct DUNS number for the organization in the CSV file or raise a case via the Help Center for CDP to update the organization name in the CDP database. For more information on DUNS numbers, please see our article here.

3. DUNS number should not be null

Reason: A DUNS number is missing.

Resolution: Add the correct DUNS number that corresponds to the organization in the same row in the CSV file.

4. DUNS value is not valid

Reason: When we tried to match the DUNS number with the DUNS number in the CDP database, we didn’t find a match.

Resolution: Review the DUNS number in the CSV file and ensure it is correct. If correct, raise a case via the Help Center.

5. DUNS identifier should be numeric 9 character of CDP followed by 9 numeric characters

Reason: Incorrect DUNS format.

Resolution: Review the DUNS number supplied and ensure it is in the correct format.

6. Organization type not matching

Reason: DUNS number indicates the organization type is incorrect for the Request list.

Resolution: Remove the organization as organization type is different to other organizations in the list.

This means to remove the organization that is receiving the error of organization type not matching.

7. Account already exists but no data found

Reason: A possible sync issue between databases.

Resolution: Raise a case in the Help Center asking for support. The CDP team will investigate the issue and resync the database if needed.

8. Requested organization name should not be
null

Reason: Missing name in the Requested organization column. This is a mandatory field.

Resolution: Add organization name in Requested organization column.

9. Wrong columns mapping

Reason: Columns are different from template provided.

Resolution: Download the template again and paste the information into the correct columns.
