Phase bar
The phase bar provides information on what phase of the disclosure cycle you are in. The key dates of the phase are visible in the timeline at the top of the page.
There are 3 key phases to the disclosure cycle:
Prepare phase:
- In the Prepare phase, you will be able to view your requests, invite team members, set permissions, and review your organization details. During this phase, the questionnaire set up is view-only.
- In the Respond phase, you will be able to complete the questionnaire set up. Once you click the ‘Complete questionnaire set up’ bar, you will be directed to the first questionnaire set up prompt followed by subsequent prompts until you have completed the questionnaire set up. In this phase, you can manage your requests and search and view past CDP response if available. You will then be able to complete your questionnaire and submit it.
- In the Get insights phase, you can view your submitted response along with your score breakdown. You can also provide feedback to CDP.
The questionnaire KPI tile replaces the ‘Onboarding’ tile once these steps have been completed.
The questionnaire KPI tile provides information on:
- Questionnaire progress
- Answered questions
- Reviewed questions
- Skipped questions
- Team size
- Sections completed
- Unanswered questions
- In progress questions
This tile also has a ‘Continue Questionnaire’ button that will direct you to your ‘Questionnaire’ page.
Requests tile
The requests tile provides information on the number of organizations that have requested you to disclose to CDP.
By clicking ‘View requests’, you will be redirected to your ‘Requests page’. Please see our article on understanding your disclosure request for further guidance.
Data products and reports tile
The data products and reports tile is a link to CDP’s Legacy Portal which allows you to view your response from 2023 and earlier. Please see our article on accessing past responses for further guidance.
Organization details page
The ‘Show organization details’ link at the top of the homepage enables you to view and update your organization details. If you click here, you will go to the ‘Organization details’ page.
CDP has partnered with Dun & Bradstreet to verify and validate the information on companies that will be asked to disclose to CDP, such as their names and addresses.
Please ensure the details provided are for the listed organization and are the most up to date, registered and/or official information. For example, by providing the registered business address instead of the billing address. This enables CDP to verify and improve data quality and integrity.
Here, you can edit or amend the following information for your organization:
- Organization logo
- Organization name in local language
- Organization website
- Organization description
- Primary CDP-ACS classification
- Confirm your participation in disclosure cycle
Please see our article on setting or changing your CDP-ACS classification for further guidance.
If you update any of this information for your organization, ensure you click the red ‘Save changes’ button at the bottom of the page to confirm these changes.
As a Discloser, you will not be able to edit your Organization name, DUNS number or unique ID fields or address. If these details need updating, please contact us via My Support. When raising this case, please choose the category ‘I have a query related to my account or organization’ and subcategory ‘I would like to update my organization's account details’ to ensure it goes to the right team.
To return to the homepage, click the ‘Home’ button displayed in the left navigation panel.
The navigation bar
The navigation bar on the left-hand side of the homepage consists of:
- Portal dropdown
- Disclosing organization name and logo
- ‘Invite team members’ button
- Home
- Questionnaire
- Requests
- Help & support
- Raise a case
- Reporting guidance
- How to disclose
- Contact us
- Give feedback
- Settings
- Log out
Once you have completed the onboarding steps and setup your questionnaire, your Portal homepage will change and the onboarding tile will be replaced by the questionnaire KPI banner where you will find the ‘Start questionnaire’ button allowing you to start your disclosure.
The questionnaire includes questions that will be shown to all Disclosers as well as additional questions depending on the environmental issues the Discloser is reporting on, the sector they operate in, the size of their organization and their annual revenue. These factors determine the type of questionnaire you will be responding to whether it be the Full Corporate, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) or CDP-ICLEI Track (for cities or states & regions) questionnaires. Further information can be found on CDP’s Question Bank.
Further guidance on general disclosure information and disclosing can be found at CDP’s FAQs page. Guidance on key changes and dates for this year’s questionnaire can be found on our disclosure 2025 page and all guidance materials to support your disclosure journey can be found on our questionnaire guidance article.
Move between questions and question sections
Once you have clicked ‘Start questionnaire ’ your Portal homepage will now display the questionnaire KPI tile which lists your questionnaire progress, answered questions, reviewed questions, skipped questions, sections completed, unanswered questions and in progress questions as shown below.
By clicking the ‘Continue questionnaire >’ button you will be taken to your questionnaire page, this can also be navigated to using the left navigation panel from your homepage. Here, all the question sections generated for your organization will be presented as several tiles.
The questionnaire consists of different sections, with each section containing multiple questions. Disclosers can move from one section to another either from the ‘questionnaire overview’ page or within the questionnaire itself. In the ‘questionnaire overview’ page, Disclosers can click into a desired section and will be taken to top of the section through which they can scroll through all questions in that section.
To select a question:
- If it is your first time opening the relevant section, click the ‘Start’ button on that section tile,
- If you have already started answering this section, then simply click the section tile to open it.
Once a Discloser has started a section the ‘Start’ button disappears and is replaced by a progress bar with a numerical value (%) indicating the percentage of questions that have been answered in that section.
If you have disclosed to CDP before, information may have been carried over from your previous responses automatically.
To move around the different sections, once within the questionnaire, you can either click the desired section from the dropdown list or select the desired section from the navigation panel above.
To navigate back to the ‘questionnaire overview’ page, click the ‘ Back to overview’ button in the top left corner of the page.

Save/Leave the questionnaire
By default, auto-save is enabled in the Portal, so Disclosers can add their responses, leave the questionnaire and return to complete their responses later. If connectivity is poor, Disclosers will see a notification when they lose internet connection. When completing the questionnaire in offline mode, Disclosers will be able to continue their work in this section and all the changes will be saved.
Disclosers can leave the questionnaire by clicking the ‘Back to overview’ button in the top left corner of the page.
Note: offline mode only works for the current section of the page Disclosers are on. If you navigate to different sections of the questionnaire, answers would be lost.
Alternatively, Disclosers can choose to leave any section of the questionnaire by clicking the ‘Questionnaire’ tab in the navigation section on the left. This will take them back to the questionnaire overview page.
In the Questionnaire progress view, there are five statuses which are:
- Unanswered – questions that are currently visible to the Discloser (i.e., not including questions hidden because of conditional logic) with no responses given.
- Skipped – questions are unanswered; Discloser has marked them as skipped.
- In progress – question responses are partially completed.
- Answered – question responses are fully completed.
- Reviewed – questions are answered; Discloser has marked them as reviewed.
Access reporting guidance and scoring criteria in the questionnaire
Reporting guidance and scoring criteria for each question are embedded into the questionnaire. These can be found when working on individual questions by clicking on the book icon in the top right corner.
Tags are also included for each question in the bottom left corner to indicate if the question is aligned to a framework or standard, which of CDP’s covered environmental issues it relates to, and the questionnaire sectors that the questions belong to.
Help text is included in some questions to provide further information on the data that can be entered into that column. You can find it by hovering over the column headers.
All guidance material can be found on CDP’s Question Bank page.
