Overview of access options
Sharing contact information with CDP
To engage your requested organizations and enable CDP to send invitations on your behalf, you must first complete the contact sharing setup. This is a required step to access the first two recommended features described in this article.
Before sharing the contact details of your requested organizations with CDP, you must ensure that:
The contact information has been collected through your standard supply chain engagement processes.
All data has been gathered and processed in compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
The relevant contacts have been informed in advance that their contact details will be shared with CDP and that they may be contacted.
By enabling this feature, you confirm that your organization has processed all contact information in accordance with these requirements. Once enabled, CDP will send invitation emails directly to your requested organizations when you submit your Request list, helping to streamline engagement and improve response rates and overall performance of your outreach efforts.
To enable contact sharing:
From the Requester homepage, open your ‘Organization name/Logo’ drop-down at the top of the navigation sidebar.
Click your ‘Organization Name/Address >’ button. You will then be redirected to your ‘Organization Settings’ page.
Scroll down to the ‘Sharing contact information’ section and read through the agreement.
If your organization meets the criteria, tick the check box and select ‘Save changes’.
If you need further clarification about this agreement, please reach out to your Account Manager.
Important: You must tick the checkbox to activate this feature. If you do not accept the agreement, CDP cannot send invitation emails on your behalf. Instead, after submitting your Request list, you will have the option to share domain-based invitation links with your requested organizations, see section below for further instructions.
Add individual contact emails directly in the Portal (recommended)
The recommended method of granting requested organizations direct access to the CDP Portal is to provide contact email addresses directly in the Portal when building your Request list. This option is available both before and after submitting your Request list.
Note: You must agree to CDP’s ‘Sharing contact information’ agreement to enable this feature.
To do this:
Navigate to the ‘Manage organizations’ page and open your current disclosure cycle Request list using the ‘View’ button.
Find the organization you wish to add contact information to and select the ‘arrow’ icon (view details) on the far right of the organization line.
Tip: You may use the ‘Search & filter’ function on the top right of your Request list to find specific organization names you wish to add contacts for. Further guidance and instructions can be found in our guidance on viewing and tracking your lists article.
This will open the ‘Organization details’ window. Select the ‘edit’ icon in top right corner of the ‘General information’ box and add the contact’s email address.
Select the red ‘Update’ button beside it, once complete. A confirmation will appear to inform you that the email address has been updated.
Note: In the ‘Organization details’ window you can also review the environmental issues assigned to the selected suppliers in the ‘Issues’ box. Once complete, click ‘Send’ to confirm the disclosure requests.
Once you submit your Request list, the added contacts will receive an automated email with a unique invitation link from mail@cdp.net containing instructions to create their CDP Portal account.
Add contacts in bulk via CSV (recommended only for returning Requesters)
If your Request list has not been submitted, you can add contacts in bulk by including a contact’s email address for each company directly in the Request List CSV template and uploading it to the CDP Portal. You can use this option as many times as required before your Request list has been submitted.
Important: This feature requires enablement by CDP. You must agree to CDP’s ‘Sharing contact information’ agreement and contact your Account Manager or our Customer Support Team to enable and use this feature.
To do this:
Navigate to the ‘Manage organizations’ page and open your current disclosure cycle Request list using the ‘View’ button alongside it.
Click the ‘Upload a file’ button at the top of your Request list and download the CSV file template of your pending list from the pop-up that appears.
Alternatively, if you have not created your Request list yet, in the ‘Manage organizations’ page click ‘Create a list for this cycle (2026)’ and then select the ‘Upload a file’ option. In the popup that appears download the CSV file template.
Important: Always use the CDP downloaded .csv template, not your own template. The template file downloaded is a CSV file, most computers open these in Excel which shows the data separated into columns. When opening the file, you will receive a prompt regarding Excel data conversions. Select ‘Don’t Convert’ to ensure DUNS numbers retain any leading zeros in the file.
Open the template and add the email addresses of your requested organizations’ contacts to Column D (ContactEmail). Your file must have the same columns as the template to avoid errors. Do not add or remove any columns or change any column names.
Tip: You can bulk edit environmental issues here as well (Columns E & F). For organizations you want to request on an issue, please enter ‘y’ for yes. For organizations you don’t want to request on an issue, enter ‘n’ for no. For more details see our guide for requesting additional environmental themes.
Save the file as .csv template. Please share your CSV file with your Account Manager to check for issues before uploading.
Note: Requesters in Latin America may need to convert the file to ensure correct formatting of semicolons and commas. Please check this with your Account Manager.
Return to you Requester Portal, navigate to ‘Manage organizations’ and open your current Request list.
Select ‘Upload file’ and choose your CSV file. Keep the page open as files can take up to 30 minutes to upload. The uploaded file will then be reviewed for duplicates, errors and other possible issues.
If the upload is successful, you will receive a confirmation email, and your updated Request list will appear with a red ‘> Submit list’ option on the right-hand side.
Once you submit your Request list, the added contacts will receive an automated email with a unique invitation link from mail@cdp.net containing instructions to create their CDP Portal account. For further guidance please see our article on accessing and navigating the CDP Portal as a Discloser.
For more information on using the CSV upload feature and troubleshooting suggestions please view our article on uploading your Request list using CSV and resolving file upload errors.
Use domain-based invitations via CSV file upload (alternative)
If you did not share contact information for organizations in your Request list or did not accept the ‘Share contact information’ terms in the CDP Portal, the best way to ensure that your requested organizations can access the Portal is by sending unique CDP Portal invitation links. This approach allows onboarding to proceed based on the Discloser’s email domain, instead of relying on individual contact emails.
Important: This option must be enabled by your Account Manager or the Customer Support Team and is only available after your Request list has been submitted. Ask your Account Manager to enable this feature and once enabled, continue to the steps below.
Steps:
Navigate to the ‘Manage organizations’ page and open your current disclosure cycle Request list using the ‘View’ button alongside it.
Select ‘Download CSV template’ in the alert banner, that appears at the top of the page.
In the CSV template, add the email domains for your requested organizations to Column D (Domain). Here, include all information that appears after the ‘@’ symbol in your requested organizations’ email addresses. For example, ‘cdp.net’. Do not include the ‘@’ symbol here.
Important: Your file must have the same columns as the template to avoid errors. Do not add or remove any columns or change any column names.
You can also add an ‘Authority reference’ for your requested organizations to Colum C (Authority reference). This field is for your records only and may help you identify and keep track of your requested organizations.
Note: If a contact has already been assigned to a specific request, you cannot use domain-based option for that request. You can only use domain-based onboarding for entries in the Request list that don’t have contacts.
Once you have entered all the domains. Save the file as .csv format.
Return to the Portal, navigate to ‘Manage organizations’ and open your current Request list.
Select ‘Upload list of domains’ in the same alert banner from before and choose your CSV file.
Select ‘Download invite links’ which will appear after the file has successfully uploaded. This will generate a new CSV file containing the unique domain-based invitations links for your requested organizations. Any contact with a matching domain for the requested organization can use the link to create their CDP Portal account.
Share the unique invitation links with your requested organizations. Your contacts will now be able to register and create CDP Portal accounts to begin their disclosure journey.
Note: To download email templates that you can use to engage with your requested organizations, please see the relevant section of the Engage requested organizations page in the Requester Support Hub.
Use the Register to Disclose form (exception)
The final option for providing your requested organizations with access to the CDP Portal is via the Register to Disclose form where contacts submit a direct request to CDP for access to their organization’s CDP Portal account.
Note: The Register to Disclose form will be available from June 17, 2026.
However, this option can be time-consuming for your supplier and for CDP, so we recommend pursuing all options listed above first for a smoother disclosure journey.
Steps:
Requesters can share the direct link to the Register to Disclose form from mid-June 2026 to their requested organizations.
Note: To help your requested organizations complete the form properly, Requesters should clearly communication the following information:
The Requester’s full organization name as per CDP records (i.e., your Requester account name).
‘My customer(s) and/or CDP Capital Market signatories have requested my organization to disclose through CDP’ should be selected as the purpose for registration.
The supplier organization name and DUNS number as provided in your Request list.
Please also use the email templates provided in the Engage requested organizations page in the Requester Support Hub, to engage with your requested organizations.
Your requested organizations will be required to complete the Register to Disclose form. To gain a better understanding of the registration journey that your requested organizations will follow, please see our article onhow to complete the Register to Disclose (RTD) form.
Once CDP processes their submitted form, the contact will receive an invitation link to create their CDP Portal account and begin their disclosure. CDP will work to process their request within 5 working days.
Note: Response times for the ‘Register to Disclose’ forms may vary depending on the volume of incoming queries CDP receives. In addition, where a direct match to an account is not found, CDP may require further details which could further extend the processing time for the register to disclose forms.
